Workshop Overview
This workshop offers an anti-oppressive and anti-carceral framework for supporting individuals in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Participants will explore the mind-body impacts of oppression and social injustice, challenge traditional systems of authority, and move beyond the false binary of sickness versus wellness. The training introduces the RMHFA model of care, while equipping participants with practical skills in de-escalation and consent.
Participants will receive a copy of the presentation slides, a glossary of terms, and an extensive list of readings and resources.
Learning Outcomes
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
understand how crisis and consent shape and impact care-centered relationships
feel confident applying the Radical Mental Health First Aide ACTION Plan in real situations
explore and practice nervous system regulation strategies, along with other practical tools for giving and receiving care
use the workshop discussion questions to guide personal and professional conversations
